  15. brain cancer; in Portland, Ore. In 14 seasons Alzado's strength
  16. and exuberance made him twice an All-Pro. After retiring from
  17. football in 1986, Alzado became a spokesman against the use of
  18. body-building steroids, which he had used steadily since 1969
  19. and which, he said, triggered his cancer.
